Grace Wipfli, hailing from Toledo, Ohio, has proven to be an impressive, charming and promising young soprano. Starting her second season as the Soprano Resident Artist with Toledo Opera, Grace will appear as Inez in Toledo’s production of Il Trovatore and as Rosina in The Stylist of Seville, the 2021-22 Opera on Wheels production. Most recently, Grace joined Michigan Opera Theatre as Susanna in their production of Bliss, a 12 hour piece of performance art that repeats the ‘Contessa, perdono’ scene, from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, on a loop. Ms. Wipfli attended OperaFest at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. She was chosen as a winner of the Jacqueline Avent Concerto Competition and performed “Lia’s Aria” by Debussy with the Festival Orchestra, under the baton of Dr. Gene Moon. In 2021, she earned an Encouragement Award from the Midwest Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Currently, she studies with Ms. Laura Brooks Rice. 

Performance highlights include Sa femme in Le Pauvre Matelot by Darius Milhaud, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, The Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, and Ann Truelove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress. Other favorite credits include: The Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd, Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Princess Puffer/Angela Prysock in The Mystery of Edwin Drood

In 2019, she received an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in the Wisconsin District. Ms. Wipfli was also a finalist for the 2019 Northwestern University Concerto/Aria Competition, in which she competed against students from all departments in the Bienen School of Music. While at Capital, she won the Concerto Competition in Performance in 2017. She was also awarded the Richard Miller Award for Fine Singing from the Ohio chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Ms. Wipfli has participated in the CoOPERAtive Program, the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and the Summer Concert Residency with Florentine Opera. 

In March of 2020, Ms. Wipfli returned to the Carnegie Hall stage as the Soprano Soloist in Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem. She joined 4 choirs for the performance, two of which she is an alum - the Chapel Choir from Capital University and the Choraliers from Ottawa Hills High School. 

Ms. Wipfli earned her Master of Music in Voice and Opera Performance from Northwestern University and her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Capital University.

While not singing, Grace spends her time baking the newest Claire Saffitz recipe, solving jigsaw puzzles, and listening to the latest Emily King and Ailyn Pérez albums on repeat.
